 Operation Home Delivery

Operation Home Delivery is Habitat for Humanity International’s response to the destruction caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. While Habitat for Humanity cannot be the answer to all low-income housing needs created by the hurricanes, Habitat expects to assist thousands of people and to work together in partnership with other organizations to serve as a catalyst in the rebuilding process. More than 1,100 new homes are complete or under construction in partnership with hurricane-affected families, making Habitat the region's largest builder in the wake of the hurricanes. Habitat expects to build 1,000 homes by mid-2007.  With donations totaling nearly $123 million, Operation Home Delivery has expanded its scope to include evacuees who have relocated to other regions, including Rutherford County.

RCHFH recently received one full house sponsorships to build a home for two women  and each of their sons who are Hurricane Katrina evacuees.  We will begin construction on this "Christmas House" in November 2007 with the dedication taking place on December 20th. There will be open build dates during the week as well as on the weekend, if you are interested in volunteering please call Megan at 890-5877 x6.  In order qualify for this program, each family was required to provide documentation from FEMA verifying that their home was destroyed or had become uninhabitable as a consequence of these storms.
